Volunteers work on a R-2800 Cutaway Engine

In keeping with our mission, Connecticut Corsair interns and volunteers are restoring the R-2800 cutaway engine to educate students as well as adults about the inner workings of the WWII titan.

The Cutaway project is the perfect teaching tool for our interns and volunteers who enjoy turning a wrench.  It is a long-range work-in-progress, but when completed, the disassembled, cleaned, painted, reassembled, and mechanized engine will become part of our airshow / tradeshow exhibit - we currently lease a cutaway for this purpose and it is always a crowd pleaser.
