Event - Chester Fair 2010

Connecticut Corsair takes the R-4360 engine display to the Chester Fair

The Chester Fair has been held annually since its beginning in 1877 with the exception of 1905 and 3 years during World War II.  Directed and managed by the Chester Agricultural and Mechanical Society, 2010 marks the 130th Anniversary of the Fair and our 4th year of attendance.

Every year, we change up our display and meet thousands of our Chester neighbors to show off what we're doing up the street at  Chester Airport.  At the same time, we are able to spread the word about our partners and their participation in our Corsair restoration efforts.

Held every year at the end of August, we often meet local, state, and federal candidates for public office.  This year, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal and Linda McMahon, both running for Senate, spoke with Craig about our mission to restore the Corsair while showcasing our sponsor's technological advancements and capabilities.  Always of special interest is Connecticut Corsair's work with CT school children and our University level intern programs.

(Above left) Craig explains to Linda McMahon, GOP Candidate for US Senate, how Connecticut Corsair works to preserve the history of Connecticut's aerospace industry while promoting Connecticut  businesses and jobs.  (Above right) Wherever Connecticut Corsair goes, our sponsor's go with us!  Sponsor names or logos are on everything we display, publish, or distribute, not only to show our appreciation for their support but to publicize and promote their capabilities.

People from all walks of Life enjoy learning about the history of aerospace and particularly the role Connecticut played in its development.  The sheer size of our running R-4360 engine display is impressive, but the roar of its 28 cylinders and the rotation of its 15' propeller make it the talk of the show.  We use our displays to fundraise for our F4U Corsair restoration project.
